If someone special like the President of the United States or your Governor or Senator took the time to come right to your home, sit with you on the front porch, and demonstrate a personal concern for you and your needs “by name,” it would make quite an impression!

And that’s exactly the kind of jolt so many of our radio friends around the world feel when they discover: “Here’s an international radio ministry that honestly does have an interest in ME!” In a Christian media world where anonymous mailing lists are “massaged,” and where people don’t usually give their name when they register a hit on your web site, imagine what it means for a desperate listener when the Voice of Prophecy team offers to pray for their specific need – and for them – BY NAME!

Let's remember that prayer is free . . . and thank God it is! But it’s your continuing generous gifts to the Voice of Prophecy that set up the lines of trust where a lonely sinner becomes willing to share their deepest hurts with our prayer team.

Every Thursday morning here in Simi Valley – and there are friends who join us around the globe – we gather together in our worship room. And around the huge wooden table are piles upon piles of prayer requests.

VOP Team read the many prayer requests.

Some are from friends just like you: our donors.

Others are from men and women who have heard a broadcast or picked up a Discover Bible Course enrollment card. People who have taken our new Daniel/Revelation prophecy series, maybe over the Internet. Some are prisoners. Many are divorced and lonely.

But on Thursday morning we read these letters and postcards OUT LOUD to each other and before the altar of our loving Lord. We mention aloud the names and the cities where they live. We picture them in our “mind’s eye.”

You can understand that we get letters with all kinds of requests in them. Some are just two words long: “World peace.” Or: “Please pray for our church and the hard times we are experiencing. We need God’s blessings just now.”

Other letters reveal family needs: illnesses, marital separations, children who, in their confusion, are leaving the faith of their earlier years.

Sometimes we smile and even chuckle. One man outlined in clear detail just the perfect mate he hoped God would send – and was very specific regarding education, looks, intellect, earning power, and even some physical dimensions. We weren’t sure even Eve in the Garden of Eden could qualify . . . but we did pray for the Lord to satisfy this brother’s heart (and maybe bring some recalibrated wisdom to his “vision”!).

A lady named “Sue,” writing from the windy city of Chicago, tells us: “After taking a month off work without pay to care for my husband, he left me in December for another woman. We have four-year-old triplets and a firstborn with cerebral palsy. My boss recently threatened to fire me, but somehow I’m holding on to my faith. Just recently I was sitting in the garage, actually contemplating suicide, and your VOP program came on. Your message honestly saved my life! Your prayers for me have filled me with hope, joy, and peace again. I have the joy of God’s patience and Jesus holding me up.
I am SO VERY GRATEFUL!”

VOP Team pray over requests every Thursday morning at 8 a.m. (Pacific time).

Isn’t it incredible that we have this rare privilege? What an honor to personally represent these people before heaven’s throne! We thank God that “where two or three are gathered together,” something tangible happens when a Christian mentions a name in prayer.

We can promise you this: as long as the Voice of Prophecy is on the radio, we will be praying for our friends by name each Thursday morning. As long as we are mailing out the Bible lessons you help fund, we will pray for those students. As long as we are in the field with annual evangelism series, we will be praying by name for those we baptize as newborn believers become mature disciples of Jesus.

WE WILL NEVER TAKE YOUR GENEROUS GIFTS AND SIMPLY RETREAT INTO A “COMFORT ZONE” OF ANONYMOUS MEDIA BROADCASTING. As long as the Lord allows time to continue in this world of hurt, we will be on our knees. And we will lift up those names.
